Saladitos

Saladitos -- dried, salted plums. I don't really know why, but these help with an upset stomach. It was initially Bean's idea to take them when I was sick a few weeks ago.

Last night around midnight, without any zofran, I sucked on one. surprisingly, it helped; especially given the fact that I was almost positive i was going to vomit.

you can pick 'em up at most supermarkets that cater to Latinos, Mexicans and Central Americans.

Mmm...saladitos. I think I'm the same way with eating salt when I have an upset stomach. After getting home from a new years party one year I had a bowl of my grandma's salty homemade beans and my stomach felt sooo much better. For some reason salty and spicy menudo helps me too...like this morning on the way back from rosarito. :P

that's so funny. chinese people have the exact same thing, and we call it sua mei (i dunno if that's the proper romanization). i love this stuff. you can drop one in a glass of water for a refreshing drink.

Also known as ume to the Japanese. It is used for stomach upset there as well; a warm bowl of soft rice with an ume mixed in settled our upset stomachs when we were growing up....before there were shelves of remedies to be had at the grocery store.
